About Zahra Henna Design
Zahra Henna Design specializes in adorning your body with natural temporary tattoos. Whether it's for a party/special event or just for fun, everyone loves seeing and enjoying the process of how each unique design is made. Henna is a plant based paste that dyes the skin to a brownish maroon shade and lasts between 2-3 weeks depending on care. Intricate and delicate designs are applied from the cone which dries into a crust to reveal a stain after being removed. My homemade henna is organic and made with love and care. :)
What is henna?
Henna is a dye that comes from the leaves of plant Lawsonia Inermis, or henna tree. After drying and crushing the leaves into a fine powder, it is mixed with other ingredients to form a paste that can dye the skin. It has been used for over 5000 years by many cultures in South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Although originally being used for its cooling properties in hot climates, it is now a symbol of happiness and joy for religious and bridal ceremonies.
Is the henna natural?
I make my own henna from the best quality materials to ensure a dark and rich stain. My paste contains Rajasthani henna powder, lemon juice, sugar, and tea tree essential oils. Unless there is a specific allergy, my henna is 100% safe.
I also provide the option of black henna, white henna, as well as other colors in my multicolored henna pack (pink, red, purple, black, blue, and green) from the brand Golecha. Although these cones are synthetic, they are clinically tested and contain no PPD (Para-phenylenediamine).
How long will the stain last?
The durability of the stain can last anywhere from 1-3 weeks depending on the care and takes 24-48 hours to achieve the darkest stain. Steps should be taken before and after the henna is applied to maximize the durability. I also apply a complementary lemon+sugar spray; the sugar acts as an adhesive for the paste while the lemon activates the natural dyes from the henna- thus allowing a darker stain to be achieved.
How much does it cost?
The price for the henna depends on the design that is chosen. Larger and more complex designs will cost more while small and simple designs will cost less. Feel free to message me with a picture of a design you want, to get a price. Or, you can view the designs I've done in the past with their prices here:
How long does it take?
The time it takes for each design varies as much as the prices. Simple designs can take up to a few minutes while more complex designs can take anywhere from 25 minutes onward. Bridal designs can even take hours depending on how large it is as well as how many sides are desired. Don't hesitate to contact me for any inquiries! :)
Where are you located?
I am located in East Plano, 75074; all appointments will be held at the Haraz Coffee House right across from EPIC (East Plano Islamic Center). I can also travel to do the henna, but there is an additional travel fee for locations more than 20 minutes away.
What is white henna?
In contrast with the name, white henna isn't actually henna. Rather, it is an adhesive body paint that is applied like henna. Although it has no stain, the paint can remain on the skin for up to 3 days depending on the care.
Is the multicolored henna pack safe?
The multicolored henna pack is officially named Rangeela Henna by the Golecha brand. It contains 7 colors: black, orange, red, pink, purple, blue, and green.
Although it is not a natural henna paste from the plant, it is: laboratory and clinically tested, halal, certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and has Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
